This Dumbo is certainly a visual spectacle, and it could've gone awry if not for the one key thing required to make this movie work: Dumbo is really, really cute. Content collapsed. I believed an elephant could fly, this Disney remake a beguiling fantasy that does its animated predecessor proud.

It is implied that Vandevere was convicted of burning down his own park for the insurance money. Meanwhile, Dumbo and his mother reunite with a herd of wild elephants, who applaud Dumbo as he flies with joy.

Aside from the political message that can be derived from Dumbo's story, there's also an important message about animal rights and the cruelty of big money greed — brought to horrifying life in the form of Vandevere and his theme park that at times reminded me of Disney's Tomorrowland.

Considering all of the main characters in the 1941 film are animals, the most obvious and immediate difference in the new Dumbo film is its lack of humanistic animals.

Dumbo, an acronym for Down Under the Manhattan Bridge Overpass, is one of Brooklyn's most visited neighborhoods, attracting visitors with its cobblestone streets, dramatic architecture, great dining and dreamy views across the river.

Disney+ has announced it is restricting the viewing of “Dumbo,” “The Aristocats” and “Peter Pan” from its platform because of their racist stereotypes. The network will set its app to prevent children under seven from watching those shows.

The most heart-wrenching moment in "Dumbo" occurs when the titular character visits his mother.

Dumbo gains fame and fortune, Timothy becomes his new manager and signs him to a Hollywood contract, and Mrs. Jumbo is freed. She and Dumbo are given a private coach on the train, and the crows wave goodbye to the elephants as they travel away.

Families using Disney+ might be surprised to find that four of that studio's animated films have now been blocked for users under 7 years old. "Dumbo", "Peter Pan", "The Aristocats", and "Swiss Family Robinson" have all been subjected to new content restrictions.

What disability does Dumbo have? ›

At first glance, Disney's Dumbo may not be though of as a film that portrays disability, but its protagonist Dumbo has a deformity-- extra large ears. In the film, the baby elephant is ostracized. He is not allowed to participate in the circus and is seen as an outcast amongst his peers.

The circus performers utilize their various talents to break Mrs. Jumbo out of her enclosure while Holt and Colette guide Dumbo to fly out of the circus. Vandevere attempts to stop them, but accidentally starts a fire triggered by mismanagement of Dreamland's electricity system which spreads and destroys the park.
